Workshops can be customised to your needs, get in touch to see what we can do to add shimmy and sparkle to your event!  We are able to offer a wide variety of workshops covering many diverse aspects of belly dance and beyond.  These workshops can be tailored to suit everything from hen parties to childrens parties.

Bbg2elly Dance Basics

Give belly dancing a try (and never look back)! This workshop will get you in the mood for dancing.

 

Choreography

Choreographies available to suit all levels! Fun dance routines to pop songs, traditional dances or arabic classics. This workshop is always popular with youth groups such as the brownies and guides as well as people of any age who want to give bellydancing a go!

 

Floorwork

Add a new level to your performance! Your camels will find a new dimension. Learn elegant ways to ascend and descend plus fun ways to travel across the floor!

 

Veil

Learn beautiful veil techniques for entrances, veil tricks for your performance and framing techniques to draw attention to your moves.

 

Zills

Zills (finger cymbals) bring excitement to traditional or modern bellydancing. You will learn to play some different Middle Eastern rhythms and even get a chance to dance while playing your zills!

 

Stick Dancing

Drawing on Egyptian stick dancing this workshop gives you the chance to try this upbeat dance style.

 

Tribal Fusion Conditioning

Have you been interested in Tribal Fusion belly dance, but have no idea where to begin? This workshop is a complete introduction to tribal fusion aiming to build up a basic vocabulary of movements, drill muscle isolations, and finally put these new skills to work with some fun dance combinations!

 

Locks and Pops

Take your tribal conditioning to the next level! Building on muscle isolations, develop you skills further in Tribal Fusion with Locks and Pops. Less 1980s robot, more Rachel Brice v’s Rob Hoffman. Influences used from both the world of fusion and hip-hop.

 

 


Workshop Series

Jewels of the East can provide a wide variety of both one off workshops and workshop series tailored to your requirements.

An example of a workshop series developed for schools is below:


Week 1:    Belly Dance Basics – Find your feet and your hips!

Learn the basic moves and start putting them into a fun choreography to a modern Arabic pop song.

Week 2:    Belly Dance Basics – Beautiful Arms and Percussive Moves.

Continue with the modern choreography.


Week 3:    Belly Dance Basics – Shimmies and Upper Body

Continue with the modern choreography.


Week 4:    Belly Dance Basics – Hips and Hands

Put the finishing touches to the modern choreography


Week 5:    Saiidi Style – Egyptian Rhythms

Find the beat to this classic Egyptian style using finger cymbals.


Week 6:    Saiidi Style – The Moves

This dance style was traditionally danced by men, imitating the power and grace of horses. Find your feet with these fun footwork patterns and start a choreography to a piece of Saiidi music.


Week 7:    Saiidi Style – The Stick

Add a new layer of fun to your moves with a stick to accent your dancing. Continue with the Saiidi choreography.


Week 8:    Saiidi Style - The Stick and the Footwork

Bringing it together footwork and stick work! Continue with the Saiidi choreography.


Week 9:    Egyptian Style – Find your Signature Move

Working with your moves to find the moves that move you! Continue with the Saiidi Choreography.


Week: 10  Bringing it all together!

Practice your Saiidi Style and practice the Saiidi choreography – you may be performing it soon!

The above workshop series is based around the Egyptian Saiidi style which is suitable for both genders and all ages.

We can also provide workshops and classes in a variety of dance styles!

Belly dancing, pole dancing and burlesque workshops are available all of which are suitable for complete beginners and can be tailored to meet your requirements. Perfect for hen parties and birthdays.

Whether you want to learn the dance moves or push yourself to new heights (some of them upside down!) then this is the dance style for you!
